Third Notification
Dear friends, we hope this letter finds you well.
The Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (TSCRS) will hold the Third International Congress of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and Symposium Across the Strait on Sunday, June 22, this year. Since TSCRS was established in 2005 according to the Civil Associations Act, we have positioned our events as international academic collaboration and engagement and cross-strait academic exchanges, in order to increase the interest of physicians in Taiwan in cataract and refractive surgery through medical exchanges with their counterparts in other countries (such as JSCRS in Japan) or regions (US ISRS/AAO), including Mainland China, while at the same time broadening the international horizons of physicians in the nation.
This Congress will take place at the NTUH International Convention Center. Please refer to the rundown for details (Attachments 1 and 2). The credit of 1 hour in medical ethics courses has been reviewed and approved by the Taiwan Medical Association (Event Code: S20080417A9028, Certification No.: TMA No. 0970000997) and the credit in professional ophthalmology courses is being applied for at present. We cordially invite you to attend this grand occasion. For an overview of future events of TSCRS, please refer to the information provided below. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons
Third International Congress of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and Symposium Across the Strait
First Notification
Dear friends, we wish you a Happy New Year!
The Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (TSCRS) will hold the Third International Congress of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and Symposium Across the Strait on Sunday, June 22, this year. Since the TSCRS was established in 2005, we have positioned our events as international academic collaboration and engagement and cross-strait academic exchanges. Just like ASCRS (US), ESCRS (Europe), APACRS (Asia-Pacific), JSCRS (Japan), KSCRS (Korea), and other similar associations specializing in cataract and refractive surgery in other countries, we hope to create a platform for domestic and international academic exchanges and clinical experience sharing.
We are pleased to have sought the opportunity to organize events jointly with ISRS/AAO during the ISRS/AAO Meeting in Beijing, China and the AAO Meeting in New Orleans, USA in 2007 and further receiving approval from our US peer (see Attachment 1). In addition, to further enrich events held, we invited JSCRS and the China Refractive Surgery Club, respectively, to take part in the APACRS Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam and the refractive surgery conference in Chengdu, China in 2007 (See Attachment 2). It is our belief that by exchanging with our counterparts in other countries (including Mainland China), TSCRS can not only boost the interest of physicians in Taiwan in cataract and refractive surgeries but also expand the international horizons of domestic physicians. It is our belief that the positive significance of such events is worth encouraging.
The Congress will take place at the NTUH International Convention Center. For details, please refer to the rundown (Attachment 3). It begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM. The Congress will consist mainly of 3 sections, namely, TSCRS – ISRS/AAO Joint Session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (including the ISRS recruitment session during the last 15 minutes), TSCRS – JSCRS Joint Session from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and TSCRS – CSCRS / CMDA Joint Session from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, in addition to the Lunch Symposium held alongside ALCON Taiwan from noon to 1:00 PM.
Finally, we thank all domestic and international authorities and physicians and friends from both sides of the Taiwan Strait for their assistance in making this year’s Congress and Symposium Across the Strait happen. Likewise, we cordially invite you to take part in this grand occasion and would appreciate any suggestions from the bottom of our hearts.
Chairman Te-Tsaw Chen
Sincerely,
Executive Directors/Supervisors Yu-Sung Liang, Lun-Yi Wang, Yung-Feng Chen,
Chao-Kai Chang, Chun-Hsien Lu, and Chun-Hsi Liu
Note 1. The registration method and cost for the Congress will be discussed with other co-organizers in mid-March this year (3 months prior to the event) and an additional notification will be sent then.
